Flowable fill can be a granular material – washed fractured stone or a softer form of concrete. The softer concrete is not as dense or hard as traditional concrete. Both can be easily excavated at a future point in time if needed.

Our client had recently purchased the house and did not want the pool. They felt the pool was contributing to poor air quality in the house and wanted the pool dealt with immediately.

The limited access to this Boulder pool meant that traditional pool removal methods were not going to work. Instead we worked with the limited access. Here you are observing structural fill material being delivered by a rock slinger truck which has the ability to place material into the hopper of the blower machine that transfers it into the pool to be filled.

The pool was filled in within a week from the first contact with our client. This was expedited quickly due to possible health concerns related to the pool. Now with the pool filled, our client can move on to the second phase of renovating the space.

MackLand continues to improve our operation with the latest equipment and processes available. When you are building over a pool, with the price of lumber and other materials today, failure is not an option.

We utilized remote control rock slinger trucks to place the material precisely, reducing labor and exposure to harmful dust and carbon monoxide. Making things heathier and safer for both us and our clients. When filling in an indoor pool, air quality is a concern. Below is a video of the rock slinger truck being backed up to the job by remote.

We consulted with a structural engineer for the best fill material to use to provide a structurally sound floor to support interior load bearing walls that are going to support a second floor. Aggregate with a rock slinger/conveyor truck was used to fill the pool. We were able to send it in through an opening, creating a ramp into the pool to bring the compaction equipment in. This moved the material in quickly, allowing us to focus on compaction. We watered the material in, adding the moisture content to aid in maximum compaction.

This indoor pool removal was more of an indoor room renovation. Filling in the pool was the first step for our clients. They are planning on renovating this space into living area for their kids. After the concrete floor is in place, our client can move on to the next phase of converting this room it a space for their kids.

Barrington, IL Indoor Pool Removal

The majority of the pools we remove are outside.  However, we also specialize in indoor pool removals.  Indoor pools present their own set of challenges.  With this Barrington, IL pool removal, we removed both the pool and the surrounding structure.

Our clients recently moved into the house and had no intention of keeping the indoor pool.  MackLand, LLC worked with both the buying and selling realtors to facilitate the the pool removal process.  We were able to start the permitting process while they were closing on the house, allowing us to start as soon as they moved in.

The indoor pool had been an addition to the house and was not consistent with the architecture.  Unfortunately, some details of the structure were costly to maintain and increased the moisture levels in the main house.  The roof of the structure had previously been damaged by hail.  While it had been repaired, it was most likely going to sustain damage again in any strong storm.  Most structures are not salvageable but this one was a prefab aluminum structure that could easily be re-purposed.  In this case, the homeowner was able to resell the structure.

With this indoor pool removal project, we went above and beyond code and removed all of the concrete both from the surrounding structure and the pool, and disposed it offsite at a recycling center.  Some of the brick work was stockpiled for future use to repair where the enclosure was attached to the main house.

After importing backfill and compacting in place, we fine graded the area to match the existing lawn.  The existing structure had landscape beds around the perimeter.  We worked to reconfigure the existing planting beds that were to remain so that they flowed nicely and did not look as they were leftover The client opted to finish with grass seed and blanket.
